Highlight - Tampere This former industrial town of Tampere in the middle of Finland was the big surprise on this trip! The city was chosen as a stop simply because it was on the way anyway but it turned out to be a marvel: The many old factory buildings were nicely renovated (the chimney on the photo just being one of them) and they are now used as lofts, hotels, community centers, shopping malls, museums, bars and clubs. The whole city oozes with atmosphere and offers many cultural activities as well as great nightlife. More photos of Tampere
Photo Gallery - The North-Eastern Corner of Europe The photo gallery of Finland shows some of the areas of the southern part of this flat and green country. Generally it's all covered by huge forests interspersed with smaller and bigger lakes which make it a very pleasant landscape to travel thru at a leasurely pace.
